Speed governer

I just found out last night that I apparently have a speed governer on my car. Why give me 140 on my speedometer, when I can only go 120?

I haven't tried it yet thouhg!!! Still looking for a safe place to get to 155mph

In Montana from what I've heard, there is no posted speed limit on freeways during daylight hours(7am-7pm?)

not to re-hash a dead thread or anything but. what if you just went into mazda and told them you want your car at the track and have the appropriate tires for it? yes, i do track it. but even then you guys are saying the engine could only make power up to about 130mph then it couldn't overcome the wind drag?

It makes enough power to go to 130mph, a old civic ex made enough power to go to 130mph. We are limited by our gearing.
my car hits the governor hard enough to give you whip lash and it really sucks. I only hit it twice though, once when it was stock and another after i got my header or some where a long that time, messing with a 350z late night on 95. The car hit the gov in 4th gear and really hard too, the sec i switched from 4th to 5th i thought someone whipped my car back  It wasn't a nice feeling at all. I really want to get the ECU tuned more than just getting rid of the governor. I personally don't mind it being there but to me it prevents the full capability of the car. But now since theres so many cops out and i have seen way too many crashes around the area and the tickets i got i just do the speed limit.
got up to 155 in my speed 3 scary as hell but the car was very smooth,i havent tried it after the cobb ap reflash not enuf road to see how fast it will go

There is a "loophole" in Montana's no posted limit though. Your speed must be reasonable and safe according to road conditions, weather, etc. The final arbiter of reasonable and safe is the Police officer writing the ticket. I doubt most cops who aren't your brother in law or suchlike would deem 100+ mph safe or reasonable on any public road at any time.
I've hit 197km/h

People in Dubai regardly speed over 160+km/h

The mazda3, at almost 200km/h is a scary thing, I wouldn't recommend it

I have the 1.6L sedan 2006 model.

I honestly feel as if its unstable, it starts to shake a bit and such...

So a re flash is the only way to trun the daem thing off? Anyone tried messing with OBDII computer and disabling thru factory settings?

193km Top speed, SUX :(
