OK before I post this I am not completely sure I saw smoke...it was close to dark and kinda hard to see out the back tint at night.
I was getting on the highway cruising about 50 on the on ramp. As soon as I had an opening to get on the highway I hit it hard and shifted to 6th at about 75 or so and continued to punch it. About the same time I started to let off the gas I looked in my rearview mirror and though I saw some smoke shining in the lights of the cars behind me. I couldn't reproduce this and will try again tomarrow in the day light....just curious if anyone has experience this under hard acceleration???
Oh and when I got home I reved it a bit to see if I could see anything with the door open.....nothing

Oh yes, under hard driving or down shifting it looks like a diesel back there. I would rather it be rich than to lean, from what I know.

It is also partially due to the direct injection which increases particulate emissions.

Very few cars run clean during full-throttle acceleration. You're better off with that than the opposite. Too lean is baaaaaad.

also sounds like plug replacement will be more often than usual due to this and findings of some others...
not under warrenty of course.

Mine has smoked progressively less under throttle as it has worn in (6 k miles)

cool, thanks for the reply guys....I still haven't been able to reproduce this yet, at least during the daytime....Glad to know this is normal, although I would prefer no smoke as I fly past someone...although a smoke screen could be kinda cool...could change the meaning of "I'm gonna smoke you!!"
