My car was totaled, a 2014 Mazda 6 and I'm receiving about $16000 from the insurance company. Right now, I'm borrowing my dad's car for a month, but he'll need it after that, I need another car.

I was looking at Mazda 3 turbo and is like $34k no way Jose, why so expensive?

I can't find any used AWD mazda 3, only new ones and they're like 30-31k

The FWD don't for less than $25k

I'd rather have the turbo but that price is absurd, maybe if I could get a used AWD one.

Most are FWD. I can afford the turbo, but is a lot of money.

Another part of me, tells me just to buy a beater and save the money.

Welcome to the forum

If by your first post how I am reading it I would say look more at the Mazda 3 N/A .
I love Turbo and Supercharged engines currently owning several myself, but they IMHO often get overrated by the average owner on most all platforms and forums talking about them.

Well a lot of it depends on what you want in the car, and your environment around you. The turbo only comes with awd, not fwd. if you’re in a area with dicey weather, esp snow the awd makes more sense. If not and raw HP you don’t need the N/A 2.0 or 2.5 might be better.

2.0 is no longer in new Mazda3s. I think the AWD is available with standard 2.5, though? (Not sure.)
The turbo isn't that expensive considering all that comes with it, you just have to compare the price to a higher-end non-turbo model. I think it comes out to around $1,000 more, that way.

N/a 2.5 Skyactive feels like v6 power coupled to 6speed transmission. I test drove a 2018 and was very impressed with the engine and transmission programming.
I have a 22 N/A 2.5 and I can definitely second this. It feels like a more polite and refined v6, not as erm thrashy as the 3.5 cyclone v6.

The low end torque on this is amazing for a four cylinder.
Yes I can agree with this, the loaner I had while getting a oil change had the 2.5T cx-5, I’d say within 100-200 feet on a on ramp, I was literally at 75 by the time I crested the on ramp. Literally the most vicious, yet innocuous 4 pot I’ve ever driven.
