Thought I'd start a new thread for this, but how should I run a new car in? (I'm getting a UK sport) I've heard people say don't go above 4k for the first x miles, and others say that on modern cars you don't need to run it in at all.. So what are you thoughts/advice on this peeps?

Cheers

Do you mean "breaking the motor in"? Or have I bumped into a language barrier of sorts? :chuckles:

I can tell you what I did... I used the "hard break-in" method. Even in the manual it states you should try to vary your RPM's as much as possible for the first 1,000 kilometers. From the first day I got, I've driven it like I stole it. My 3 runs great after 55,000+ miles.

2005 Mazda3 Owner's Manual said:

  • Don't race the engine.
Don't maintain one constant speed, either slow or fast, for a long period of time.
Don't drive constantly at full-throttle or high engine RPM for extended periods of time.
    Avoid unnecessary hard stops.
    Avoid full-throttle starts.
