Hi all,

I just came back from my second visit to the dealer for a
creaking/rattling sound from base of windshield.

Similarly to the first attempt, they narrowed it down to some nonsense
about a couple of pieces of plastic coming in contact.

Wrong.

At this point, I'm convinced that the sound is coming from the plastic
cowl moulding which borders up to the windshield.

I'd like to remove it and place some insulation or clear caulking at the
point of contact between it and the windshield.

Question:

How do you remove this cowling? I couldn't see how it's fastened.

Thanks.

Hi Ziegs,

I'm referring to the windshield.

The cowl I'm talking about is the black plastic piece that runs
along the base of the windshield (the windshield wipers rest on
it).

This piece seems to rap or hit against the windshield going over
bumps which causes a real annoying creaking/rapping sound.

What I'm trying to do is remove it and perhaps put some insulation
or caulking on the areas where it touches the windshield and see
if that resolves this "torture".

Thank you folks.

That online how-to manual is exactly what I was looking for.

This will definitely come in handy.

Another thanks for the online manual. Nice stuff. Going through the tabs there are several options for engine. I guess the vin will tell me which one to use. Any suggestions?
