remember that smell ??

I only have 350 miles on mine but I've had that smell from day 1 and still smell it every day. I assume it's totally normal and "I love the smell of MS3 in the morning"! 8)

I've always had a slight oil smell with the car from day one but it hasn't gotten any worse so I chalked it up as being normal. The only smell that comes close to what you described is the smell after driving hard. If I push my car pretty hard, I get a rather strong smell from the engine bay but it subsides after a while. I can't really describe it. At first I thought it was my clutch but now I know it's definitely not that. Seems normal to me as I haven't had any issues with the car and it hasn't gotten any worse.

i havent gotten my car hot enough to get that smell lately, Im sure ill get a wiff this sunday at my first event provided it doesnt snow :?

i haven't got my speed3 yet but my mum's cx7 does occasionally have that smell as well,about 3000km

i have zero abnormal smells...at 7500+ miles

4500 and I've still got the smell.

that smell is all that shine they apply to the engine bay.. it eventually will burn off..

i dont know about that......it smells like oil to me.

no garage here.....just a carport

never smelled anything unusual or noticable.

That odor is actually the super heated oil running through the turbo and such and permeating into the car.

just like he said its the heated oil going through your turbo. just run it hard then come back home park, let cool, and pop the hood. you'll smell it real strong.

It's 70 kms each week day to work and then with all the extra week-end driving and such it amounts to an average 500-600km per week.

Then factor going to see the parents which live 650 km from here back and forth (with local driving) and you get a 1500km trip in a weekend.

Mine has the smell (~1500 miles) and so does my b/f's speed6 (~2000 miles), we thought it was the undercoating on the hood. It's most prevalent after having rev'd the engine pretty high and after having finished a run through our local autocross....must be the smell of speed...

The shiner is oil based

Its definitely the engine dressing... It burns quickly off the metals that get hot, but takes a while longer to burn off of plastic components which arent heated often.

I had a smell/burning after going up and down at Pilot Mtn here in NC. The turbo was working pretty hard in 3rd mostly.
that's the only time I got it
