I thought oh good they are goign to do something about the bold issue or maybe at worst a fix for the CEL issues. But I dais a recall had to be somethign serious so I figured the bolt was going to be the item.

To my suprise the recall is for freakin floor matts. It appears that cars that come with the all weather floor matts have an issue where the mat can get stuck under the gas pedal and they have some fix for it.

YOu have to be kidding me on this.... Lets fix the other big issues Mazda

I got the same letter. I threw it away because I never had the mats. I was really hoping it was going to be on a different issue too.

I was not sayign the recall was not a good thing. I am jsut amazed that a recall for the matts is out while the transmission/motor mount bolt issue still does not have a recall nor does it have a TSB on it. It is like Mazda does not even think it is a problem. I jsut don't want ot have to check this darn bolt every month.... I want them to give us some information and provide a fix for us.

I don't want to check the bolt every month either, so I'm not. If the mount or bolt fails, they'll fix it, and then I'll trade it in. It's as simple as that for me. I'm tired of thinking about it! It just sucks if it happens to someone with a non factory part modded car. You know they won't want to warranty it.

Carpeted mats: ?
Cargo mat: $30-$40
Cargo tray:$40-$50

Those are regular Mazda3 prices not Mazdaspeed3 prices

yes it does, I have it in my car.

reason the floor mat recall beat the mount recall to the table was due to the number of people effected.
hundreds ordered the winter mats and id guess a good 50-100 people if not more probably had the pedal stick. so far we only have 3 broken mounts and less than 10 loose bolt complaints. the way things get fixed is when people report a problem.
anyway, the floormat issue was probably more of a saftey concern than the engine mount issue and I can easily see how it could lead to death whereas the engine mount problem most likely wont kill you.

Are you insane- The mout issue is definitly somehting that could cause death. If your engine falls out at highway speed you are in serious trouble.....

The point is that people have had bolt failures. And a bolt failure at speed equates to serious trouble for a driver. The real point I am trying to make is that we should not have to live in fear of something serious like a bolt failure occuring. Mazda should fix the problem and issue a recall for this not jsut for a carpet malfunction....

Mattleegee has a good point and he will probably succeed in living through it due to the cars inherent safety systems. I have considered my options of sudden stopping locations should my engine drop myself, actually.

I really wish that when I had that bolt out I had replaced it with a stainless one. But whatever, now it is the OEM bolt and locktited in at the correct torque. Simple fix and it looks like it will work just fine. Not worried about it in the least. But a good mechanical engineer would be a far better person to assess the issue than some dork who has just built and raced maybe 8 cars or so (Me).

It should be a recall issue. No doubt about it. I thought mine was tight. DEALER thought it was tight. I took the load off the bolt and what do you know, 25 pounds torque! Recall and check em all. Save the ultimate expense. Just my .02.

But for now my car sits complete and looking as flawless as can be. At 4,800 miles it SHOULD.

A little late, but yes, I bought one when I first bought the car and it fits as snug as a bug in a rug.

I just get this visual of a carton of milk spilling all over the trunk. Then the smell.

I think it was worth the $40 I paid for it. =P

I picked up my ms3 last week and there were no all-weather mats. In my excitement, I didn't ask the dealer about them. Anyone else just not get the mats even though they paid for them?
