Has anyone removed (or thought about removing) the rear wiper assembly on the 5-door yet? I did it yesterday and what a difference in it makes! The back end looks more sporty/sophisticated without it......the whole thing was surprisingly easy to remove too, the only trick is plugging the hole in the glass.

What did you do to the controls on your steering column?
I didn't do anything to them, they just don't function. I disconnected the washer fluid line that ran to the nozzle at the top of the rear window.

Sure it looks cleaner I'm sure, but the window won't be. I'm glad I have one, it's come in handy. I can't imagine being without, unless you live in a desert where it doesn't rain or snow :D

Yes, I can see how it would come in handy in the snow but where I live (southern california) the only thing I have to contend with is the occasional rain. I put a good layer of RainX on the back window and problem solved :D

My check engine light came on yesterday. Does anyone think that it might be on because I removed the rear wiper and there isn't a connection there anymore? I've had the wiper off for a while now and the light came on yesterday.

The front wipers are very easy to remove too, are you gonna remove them too? since it will give you a cleaner look from the front.

Definatly, NO. If you only removed parts from the hatch there is no way that you could have caused the CEL.

I had thought about removing them as well but I find myself using them every now and again when I'm too lazy to wash my dirty windshield....
