I've noticed I have these 2 rings on my rear passenger side rotors. I used some brake cleaner with a rag and some brown/gold color came off, but not much. Also it's barely more raised than the rest of the rotor, not much, but its not like a groove or valley into the rotor. Is the pad gone bad? Or not making full contact with the rotor in those areas?
I guess I'm not understanding what is causing that, to me it looks like the rotors/pads are not wearing consistently. Not to say it doesn't happen frequently, but ideally the whole pad contact patch should be level, no?
My rear pads also wear inconsistent is a pretty good description. However i am very heavy on brakes and even run track days. Six months ago about once a month i would "readjust" the rear pistions with the going in reverse while pulling up on the e-brake trick and that has helped a lot for me. Just my experience.
