remove the air bag, buy some devcon plastic weld at walmart,

take 200grit sandpaper and sand the cover
clean with acetone or warm water and soap (make sure 100% dry)
mix the epoxy weld
work quicky
spread the epoxy into the gouges and then let it cure for 48 hours, after two days sand the highspots down and to original contours

use 200, 400, then 1000 or a buffing wheel with polishing compound.

buy automotive interior and vinyl dye (in areosol can) (black)

Follow instructions and use multiple coats

Viola, you just restored your mistake and now you can paint the mazda emblem or leave it black like the rest of the wheel

Defiantly disconnect the battery then put your foot on the brake for a few minutes and let it sit so all the juice is out sometimes the ecu has a reserve for like 5 mins idk about this car...

I wouldnt reccomend using it to fill the button voids unless you actually remove the button switches and leave the physical buttons in, then use super glue to keep them depressed and then go over them with the epoxy, sand, paint and etc...

YIKES too much bondo! its gonna crack! also is it Bondo brand or actually good filler.

bondo likes to chip and crack, especially through temp changes if applied more than 1/4 inch

might want to spread a thin coat to cover the pattern in the plastic. so it doesent look so obvious
