so my dad just gave me his old radar detector (real old)
i am not sure if it will still work but i figured it wont hurt

i have two ideas for mounting
1. to the EZpass velcro strips

2. it has a magnet on it so i was wondering if there is anyway to take the center part of the dash with the vents off and put the metal mounting thing under it so i could just put the radar detector on top and it would just stay on the dash cause of the metal underneath (i tried to search but found nothing)

maybe?

i would say 5"x5"x2"

it works pretty well on the EZpass velcros (the magnet can be placed on the top or bottom)

but i just think it would be cool if it could "magically" stick to my dashboard

basically my question is how do you take off the middle piece of the dashboard that has the vents?

and would a magnet work through that plastic?

remove dash strip, take out the two screws holding the vents in, pull out the whole piece and your done... im sure a magnet would work through the plastic might just need a stronger magnet than what you have now

My post is in the screenshot!

Yeah I'd be surprised if that thing would go off on any radar other than automatic doors

Personally I don't even think it's worth going through the trouble to put something so old/outdated in your car...IMO...

EDIT: Just reread your post and saw that it apparently went off for a cop  Well it's a Whistler which by today's standards is a good/decent company so who knows!
