I'm moving next month and will finally have my own garage. That got me to thinking. How many of you still lock/set your car alarm even though it is secured in your garage?

I think I would still lock it.... but at the same time it seems like overkill.

So?

I do not lock my car in the garage.

This.

If someone finds a way into your closed garage, they're going to break into the car if it's locked rather than just open the door. Why wouldn't they? Nobody can see them as they're in a closed garage.

Absolutely no reason to lock a car in a garage.

i'd still lock it. burns up more time if someone is trying to break in. gives more chance of someone noticing. if it's quiet you could probably hear them and get your negotiator

Pretty much exactly what I was thinking. I even tried to post it, but for some reason, my phone decided to be stupid and the post button wouldn't work... -___-

You guys need to move to nicer neighborhoods

My wife has left the garage door up all night a few times (now I have an interior indicator which shows up or down so I can tell without going out there) and we've never had so much as a bike or golf club stolen. If my car is in the garage and the door's actually down, the only good way in would be through the steel framed door to the garage from the patio which is about 10' from my bedroom window. No way of doing it silently.

Well I'm moving on post at Fort Lewis, lol. But idk, I'm just a Negative Nancy when it comes to securing my car. If it's worth doing, it's worth overdoing, lol.

lmao, the paranoia in this thread is incredible. I'd lock the garage door before I'd lock the car. then again, I'd leave all 3 doors open all night without worry. nobody's going to steal a Mazda.

It's just a car. Garaging it should be enough to put your mind at ease

so keep your car away from trailer parks and nobody will steal it? :dunno:

don't worry though, it'll break before before the thief gets too far away ;).

Nope. There's no need. Plus half the time I forget to hook the damn battery tender up to the car so I like to be able to pop the hood and hook it up without having to go upstairs and find my keys.

Considering we haven't locked our front door in over a year the last thing I would probably do is lock my car when it's parked in the garage.
