Pretty much any mod you do to the car can void the warranty that is modded. So say you get HIDS for your headlights and then your shocks blow out on ya. That would be covered cause the item that was modified didnt cause the blowing out of your shocks! But if you lower your car and then the shocks blow out... your screwed! Some dealers are hard asses about warranty work and can it difficult but then some are cool with it! It varies by dealership really and/or how well you know the service manager! Cause being friends with the service manager never hurts!
so basically if the mod doesnt relate to the problem, then i'm all set right?

thanks!
true, but some dealers will do everything within their power to prove ur mod caused the issue. so be careful.
Yeah and he really does mean everything in their power! Stuff that doesnt even make sense! And not a problem! Glad I could help.
My friends 04 MZ3 started randomly stalling. They tried blaming it on an aftermarket stereo and HIDs.

WOW. that is just absolutely ridiculous.
Yep, DRoc hit the nail on the head. You can do pretty much anything you want, but the dealer can deny warranty work if they suspect aftermarket parts to have caused the problem. Personally, I undo as many of my mods as possible before heading in for service cuz the less they know, the better.

CAI is okay if it's the $400 mazdaspeed one. But an AEM or Injen voids your warranty...

I tried my best to stay away from the engine, but I think I've voided the warranty.
Well, then, let us hope we never need to use said warranty then!!!! :p
