So I've got a few questions. I'm about to order me some rims, but the problem is they don't come in a specific color. I'm looking into possibly powdercoating or painting them, and need some advice. Which is better? Which adds less weight? Where is the best place to have it done, and how much does it usually run? If I think of more, I'll add 'em.

Thanks,
Kyle

powdercoat definitely. unless you want to repaint them in 2 or so years.

a place by my house does powdercoating for like 275$ that includes prep work, de-mounting the tires etc.

Damn, expensive. But I guess you get what you pay for, no?

Now I've gotta find a place to get 'em done at.

Thanks for the help, guys.

275$ for all 4 is pretty cheap for powdercoating. thats like 68.75$ a wheel.

you're looking at like 500$ for all the prep etc with painting. unless of course they come in pristine smooth condition and you don't have to sand or prime anything.

True. I'll have to look around, see if there are any local places around and try to get some estimates

Anyone know of any chain-type places that can do it? Does it have to be a specialty shop, or can, say, a body shop do it?

Hahaha you're relentless. You'll know soon enough, don't worry. A hint, though: they've never (at least not on the boards, or to my knowledge), been mounted on a 3. Hence my secrecy (want to be a pioneer for once, lol)

woo!

i'd just powdercoat them. any body shop should be able to do it, or any place that powdercoats, obviously. as long as their oven is big enough.

Well, I found a really good body shop in Pensacola where I'm going to have some work done, so maybe they can do it for me with a combo price.

you're gonna need a place that does powdercoating. not every body shop will be able to. it requires a special machine and bakin and some other stuff

I figured. So what, should I call them and ask if they can do it? And if they can't, if they know anyone that can?
