Hey guys, I'm applying for Ph. D programs this fall (in the field of biology, preferably in the field of genome maintenance or regenerative medicine)

I was hearing the graduate students in my lab are only making $20,000.... $25,000 with TA
One of them got a Post-Doc position and he's getting $35,000

Then I thought to myself... "Damn! I'm going to be broke for the next decade!"

So I was just wondering how much are you guys making... please state where, and what program

People in the industry, state how much you're making and where... I want to compare how broke I'll be for the next decade or so

Dude are you smoking crack. They do not make anywhere near 1 mill thier first year. Where did you get that. They will be lucky if they clear 95k not 950,000.

I'm happy with the career path I chose.

1st year starting out for NJ State Troopers is $53,000 a year. Then it goes up in increments with each consecutive year, like the 2nd year is $62,000 and then the third is $69,000. That's not bad money for a cop, well a state cop.

No degree, dropped out during the dot bombs and I'm making 80+ with bonus and stock plans. Working part time on my applied mathematics degree with the intention of doing post grad, but that's not related to my field in the slightest :)

i am currently in the process of trying to get a masters in special edu (prepaing for the gre right now) but i'm doing it more for the love of the profession than the pay cuz the pay inceasre from being a none masters teacher to a masters teacher is only about 10% (so imagine, starting pay for teachers--about 28k....now add about 10% to that and u have a masters teacher...)

Unfortunately not, NJ State Troopers are looked upon as the best of the best in the nation as State Police. Highly looked up to and not to be frowned upon. They actually like to hire people with greater stature and a bigger bust here cuz it's messed up. They want to actually kind of scare people as you get out of the car so hopefully less people will bolt on them.

I've been running like nothing, and hitting the gym. I'm rootin for anyone that would like to do the same and get into the criminal justice area. Especially corbs, he will be one kick ass cop.

can i hear an "amen" haha and ditto about finding another autism teacher on this forum, small world :) but looking at your sig apparently you not just drive the car for the natural coolness factor of the 3, but for the modding aspect :) i've gotten some strange looks from my coworkers when i start talking about my car, i think they think i'm a little nuts--but i think the theory is you have you be a little nuts to do special education :)
