Hey guys, I need to paint my rear turn signal bulbs amber (they are clear to start with). I used Tamya arcrilic model paint (translucent amber) to paint the bulbs. Think this will be a problem? i think they are just flashers so they won't get too hot. Anyone have experience on this topic? maybe recommend me some paint to paint with? I went to parts source and crappy tire, neither of them have this bulb in amber so i'm left only with the painting option.

I'd just look a bit harder for the bulbs. Any half-assed auto parts store (or even Target/Walmart, any or hardware store with an automotive section) should carry them, since they're a very common size (7440)... but if you absolutely can't find them, they are available from virtually any general automotive website for a few bucks. www.autolumination.com, for one. Scroll past the LEDs, and you'll find incandescents at the bottom.

it's weird, i went to crappy tire and parts source, and the only bulbs i could find in amber fit... but they wouldn't stay in. it was like they were missing a notch or something to retain them
