Since I'm already pimping this in 3 other threads, why not one more? ;)

I love the steering wheel, makes it so much more sophisticated.

Is that carbon fiber inside your steering wheel, or is it just the way the picture turned out?

Hah, I wish! No, that's just how the photo came out :)

And blankets3: It's not hard... just hold the can 10" or so from the piece you're painting, and make a slow sweeping motion to apply each coat. 3 coats is plenty :)

That's pretty much it. There are several diy interior painting threads.

If you have an 07, don't make the same mistake I did. The panels on the steering wheel are screwed in (you have to remove steering wheel to gain access http://www.mazda3forums.com/index.php?topic=45816.0), they don't pry off like some threads say...they may pry off in models earlier than 07. The panel on the dash snaps off, not sure about the door trim.

That's it, minus the sanding, priming, and clear coat... I used Duplicolor metallic paint, which won't take a clear coat anyway (it dries semi-glossy and clear coat just runs right off this stuff) :) I did sand and prime the other interior pieces, but I like how the wheel bits came out a lot better

Really? Mine's an 07 and I just pried everything off...there was a zip-tie in each side of the steering wheel that had to be cut but that was it...

Maybe it's just the S models or something? Or maybe since that thread you linked is about installing cruise control, cars that come with the cruise control installed don't have screws?

I think there's a thread somewhere about painting the interior trim....

For the window panels just slide a butter knife under there and turn it, then pull the panels off. There are screws on the back to remove the switches
