Daytime Running Lights (DRL)
Side-impact airbags
Auto-sensor wipers and Intermitent (sp?) wipers
Auto-sensor headlights
Dead pedal
All-weather floor mats
6X9s on rear deck instead of back two doors
Smokers package instead of making cig. lighter/ashtray standard

Options I wish were offered:

Different speaker brand choices (i.e. rockford fosgate)
Onstar

Options I wanted, but couldn't afford:

How about this thread?

Suggested Changes For 2005 Mazda3

Wanna continue here or there?
I hate DRL's!! I love the fact I can control my own headlights too..I think cars without DRL's look nicer IMO..
OK, that's it, venting time...

First off, this is not directed at ImportLuva4life, or any member here. I know you're just expressing your opinions but....

What do you want for a 15,000 USD car???????????

You can have it loaded or cheap, but not both.

I think Mazda was done a good job, in general, of offering options and extras that give it an edge against it competition, but also keep the price down. Every single review of this car has said it's a great car and amazing value in it's class.

Finally. the 3 is not just packaged to stand out among it's competitors (civic, corolla), it's packaged not to take away from the Mazda 6. If Mazda provided every option available on 6 on the 3, the only people who would buy the 6 are the ones who needed a bigger car.

venting done.

cheers

Here is a more "toned down" list, and I think a bit more realistic:

* Make ABS and airbags standard on the S models, will make them cost more, but they need it to differentiate it from better equipped i models anyway.
* Make the intermittent wipers adjustable. No auto-sensing, just adjustable time delay.
* Auto-off head lights that turn off 30 seconds after ignition has been turned off.
* Dead pedal
* Use 6.5" stock drivers instead of the weird 5x7/6x8 size.
* Fer chris-sake put an aux-in jack in there. How much does this cost, $2.50?
* Trunk release on the remote for the sedans.

In line with the offering of Xenon, Tire Pressure Monitoring System and Navigation, I think the following should be options:

* Traction control
* Power driver seat (possibly with memory)
* Heated leather seats

However, the European Mazda3 is better. It has alot of the things you guys talk about like the auto sensing headlights, and heated sideview mirrors. So the European Mazda3 is what some of you would like.

So obvious, yet so true

Also, I think LeeLee's list is very reasonable

Yeah, I also think LeeLee's list is reasonable.
As for conditioning, I think they should keep it an option for the GX, but make it standard for the other lineups. There are very rare instances where someone wouldn't get A/C (*cough*ignore my A/C thread now*cough*... hehehehe). It's a safety thing, in either the hot or the cold.
My "wish list" is more like a holiday thingie for santa. haha

I guess your right, I mean, the Mazda 6 should at least have the majority of these features standard. Is the 6 had the headlights/taillights the 3 has, it would be more attractive....

Thanks for your input gentlemen.

I think the headlights for the 3 match that car, I wouldn't want to put the 3's headlights on the 6-I like how the 6's headlights look.

For the 3: I would love it if it had ABS and traction control standard-IMO this should be standard on all cars.
I like Lee's list. Pretty solid.

What ever happened to std. ABS? There's pleanty of early '90s Buicks out there w/ std. ABS. Why has it gone out of 'fashion' to have std ABS? Am I missing something.

I get slightly annoyed when I hear people mentioning all of the things that the 3 should have, not what it does have. It's a Mazda, not a Lexus. Its much more throughly equipped than the rolla or civic. My 2 cents...
G
moon roof and xenon lights in Australia!!

in terms to worldwide options..
-stereo upgrade
-choice to have either 6cd in dash or mp3 player instead of payin extra for either.
-additional choices of trims for the 2.3
-wheel arches for the sedan
-larger range of spoilers (although i like the one on the sedan already) :D
-6 speed manual instead of 5.
-NAV

Thats all i can think of atm..

I would add 5 speed auto instead of 4 on top of that
I am with neoriffic that ABS should be standard. Mazda could have done this at minimal cost.

A standard auto-dim mirror without compass/temp/home-link would have been nice.
Man, with all the snow we got I have one wish....TRACTION CONTROL....my friend's neon has it for god's sake....
All they really NEED to change to this car is redesign the side skirts on the GFX package to reduce the number of rock chips, give us quiter brakes from the factory. And give us a remote trunk release. If they change all this for 2005 models I will be happy, although I will have my particular car for a long time too come because it will eventually be my winter beater.
