Everyone please, I need help with my nuts! :lol:

OK, so the problem is this. I am getting my RX8 rims powdercoated a dark gray and I need new lug nuts. My car is Galaxy Gray, and my calipers are orange (see avatar :)). So I'm thinking the stock chrome lug nuts aren't going to cut it. My top 2 choices are gunmetal or black. I would like your opinions on what color I should choose and also any specific recommendations on brand/model lug nuts to get. I don't particularly care if they are "lightweight". I just want something that looks good and is of good quality. My car is a daily driver and not used for auto-x. I also prefer closed end to open end. I like the Rays nuts but don't particularly want to spend ~$150 to $170 on a set of nuts. So my set of criteria would be:

* black or gunmetal/dark gray in color
* closed end
* will fit (correct taper) RX8 rims
* preferably under $100

Here's a couple-o pics of the car with the stock colored rims.

Go black. You're going to want bulge acorn style (60 degree tapered seat) lug nuts, as that is what OEM lugs are. Thread pitch: 12x1.50. I know for a fact that Gorilla makes some in those specifications.

The Gorilla ones are only $50 shipped, where do you see $192? Although their description says that set only comes with 16 nuts, even though the title says they are for 5-lug wheels... so it should come with 20 nuts... definitely make sure there are enough in the set before ordering.

If you want stock style normal lugs (not spline drive like that first link) then here's some super cheap black ones which should still be good quality:

EDIT: sorry, that first link above is not to the correct size, the Google shopping page lied. I would personally recommend these heptagon lugs, which are definitely the correct pitch and everything:

This is what made me think that:
Small-diameter Black 5-lug Nut Set, 12mm x 1.50 ZX472105PF Set $67.78 $47.99

I also don't really like the idea of a standard socket not working on them...

I've seen the warning "not for use with stock wheels" on just about every lug nut I've looked at online. Unfortunately with the Muteki's and some others, there are no specs about the taper of the nut listed, so I can't see how you could possibly know whether they fit or not!

Our stock lugs have almost the exact same acorn taper as "tuner" lugs. I have yet to compare them, but I'm pretty sure if your car came with alloy wheels (not steelies w/ hubcaps) then you can safely use this style of lug with them.

I do like those 50mm Rays in black, but wonder if they'd look funny or stick too far out on the RX8's. Maybe if I can find a set for close to $100...

I got my rays lugs for 100, though that was with a set of advans.

Yea yea, you have Advans.. we know ;)
[/quote]I miss them! boo stock wheels for winter.. but yay for michelin X-Ice tires.
Just mentioned it because the wheels may have lowered my cost on them a bit.
