Now why'd you have to go and do that? Everyone wants to hate you and you're making it harder for them!

maybe a sticky is in order? :bunnyd:

you don't vote your own thread for a sticky. It gets voted by others, then approved by moderators.

own vote = negative 1. LOL

I thought the same thing when I saw this thread.

here's one from Top Gear. I expected better from them. I used to love watching that show back in the day.
but that review is so off.

The biggest problem remains the driving experience, though, which is just too detached. Drive the aforementioned GTI or ST, and you feel like you're an integral part of the car.

Drive the MPS, and you could just as well be having an out-of-body experience. You can see that it's you driving, but the involvement just isn't there.

haha. I don't know what he's talking about.
its plenty responsive for me trying to dodge all these pot holes. lol

The lack of feel in the steering wheel Top Gear and Channel 4 is probably due to the the torque/boost limiter in 1st and 2nd?? I haven't driven the ms3 so I can't say personally, but I'd imagine the driver would sense some kind of disconnect from the car. Maybe this is what they are referring to. An astute driver would want to get feedback directly, rather than have the computer do its thing to correct torque steer, etc.

Just my two cents on what the Top Gear article might be referring to...even if it IS the case, I highly doubt it's that big of a deal to fuss about.

If I may say, that whole 'disconnect' argument is total BS but to each his own. I feel much more in control and confident in this car than my last (a mazda 6)and the steering is tighter.

Well anybody that owns one could easily refute what top gear has to say. No need to read all the other glowing reviews especially the autoweek comparison to the WRX. The top gear review seemed biased big time but they're entitled to their opinion.

Do you feel disconnected bani?

I don't know what car Top gear was driving but I find the Speed3 to be totally engaging. I am now looking for excuses to go for a drive when previously when I had an RSX I would have left the car parked in my driveway.

Also here's another online review for the list:

Re: Online mazdaspeed3 reviews - TOP GEAR REVIEW

I love Top Gear and their reviews and even though this hurts a "bit" and with the knowledge of being "called names" I tend to agree with MOST of it!

I am a Mazda fan and has been for quite some time after owning 323GTX, Miata, RX8

Yes the MS3 is nice but drive a RX8 or a Miata (even 1st gen) and you tell me which car you feel MOST connected to the road. In fact, my first "complain" was "lack of feel and shifting response"

I even get the DSC light ON when pushed in thrid gear. Talk about torque steering and the "low" threashold level they have for the DSC to come on.

Perhaps I am experiencing a normal transition from RWD to FWD but the one thing I must say is that although this car is a blast to drive hard, I don't feel as connected to the road as my previous RWD rides.

I am sure some camber adjustments and stiffer bushings might "help" this feeling but I could tell that a Miata will walk away from me in turns at the track events I usually attend.

Oh well, I need to be objective and take it like a "man" when someone points out the shortcoming in the MS3.

BTW, I will only concentrate in performance threads as "interior and/or luxuries" threads are not what I am after, especially since this is not the reason why I bought this car.

To illustrate some of the customizing that can be done to a MAZDASPEED3, Stavana had a special MAZDASPEED3 at the track, outfitted with suspension upgrades, new wheels and a cold air intake. Stavana said the cold air intake adds about 30 horsepower, with virtually no increase in emissions. And, as with all other genuine Mazda accessories, the alterations are all covered by the factory warranty.

We drove this customized car on the track and were extremely impressed. With the additional power and firmer suspension, we were going into turns as much as 20 mph faster than with the unaltered MAZDASPEED3. The suspension would probably provide a rough ride on the street, but on track it felt superb.

Stavana said that prices had not been finalized yet for these parts, but he estimated that the changes made to his car were valued around $2,500. The cold air intake alone is under $1,000, which means you could have a MAZDASPEED3 with almost 300 horsepower for under $25,000! Which brings us to the best part.
30 hp on a cai.. and i sure hope its less than $1000 .... must be some bad ass cai!!!!!!!! got from first review from original poster

I'm sorry, but you're wrong. That is not OK here on this site. You cannot point out any faults with the MS3 because it has none! I say we tar and feather him!
