Northern California Pricing?

Is there anyone out there who has gotten a 3 for invoice on the HB S model? I'm looking for one with a MR/Auto so it should'nt be hard to find. So far I've only checked out one local dealer and he quoted me $750 above invoice and said he was having a hard time keeping these in. The other dealer said he wouldn't be able to give me a price until I was ready to buy. Any suggestions or prices?

thanks

try fleet manager

I got $750 over invoice quote for a fully loaded 5 dr + navi. So for what you're looking for is sitting on the lot and I wouldn't budge for over invoice because factory dealer rebate is considerable right now. Call and ask for the internet/Fleet manager and deal directly with them over the phone. If you're a costco member they have pre-negotiated prices, too.

That's some bad info you have there. As of 5/22/04 there is NO Factory to dealer incentive whatsoever.

The only 2 rebates available is factory to CONSUMER and they are

1) $500 College Grad Rebate

or

2) $500 Owner's Loyalty Rebate

the 2 rebates are mutually exclusive (meaning one or the other, but not both).

In addition to the 2 Factoty to Consumer rebate, there is also the Mazda Rev It Up Coupon good for $250 (this is a coupon and not a rebate, although it works similar to rebate to the extend that you could endorse it to your dealer).

Just want the facts,

cheers,

The factory to dealer rebates I'm speaking of are "secret" rebates not publicized to the the consumer. My pops works for a dealership (not mazda) and has access to industsry only newsletter about secret rebates. That said, that still didn't affect the Costco pricing. Update on my 3. I went for delivery and the the car was damaged. The front bumper was jarred out of position and they drilled the front bumper for the front license plate (which I had asked them to leave off and called to confirm 3 times that they wouldn't). I asked them to replace the bumper with a new titanium they have on the next shipment and they wouldn't so I didn't take delivery. Instead I bought a Mazda 6 5dr for $400 under invoice today which is only $500 over what i was going to pay for on the 3.
Oh, I bought the 6 at their competing dealer. I got horrible service at Almaden Mazda and top notch service at Menlo Mazda.

That sounds like a sweet deal for a 6. I would have loved to gotten one but the 3 HB fits my lifestyle so well that I couldn't even think about getting a different car in that price range even if it was the 6.

Sounds like you got a great deal, congrats!
I am also in Nor Cal, San Jose to be exact. I went to Almaden Mazda where the salesman was pretty cool about everything. But the other guy, not sure of his position, was a big arse. Didn't listen to me one bit.

Anyways, I have a question about the Costco membership deal. For those that did get it, what membership do you have at Costco? My parents have the highest level gold executive what ever you call it, but they can't add my name to the card, because I don't live with them. So I was thinking of getting my own card, the lowest membership possible, since I rarely shop at Costco. Will that affect my discount on the deal? Or would I get a better deal on my parents card? Also, do I need to be a member for x amount of months before I get the deal?

Thanks in advance if you can help a local out.

Costco Membership and pricing

Hey- I don't think that the executive membership gives you better quotes but it might give you better breaks on insurance and other car services. Sure your parents can put you on their card. You DO live with them. Either way, it's not that expensive to sign up for a standard membership. Costco comes in handy, try it out... you probably have a Costco gas station somewhere in SJ, and it's usualy ~ $.10 cheaper than the local average gas price. Well worth it.

I dealt with the Internet/fleet sales person at Almaden. Kathi Greene. She talks the talk and gets you to trust her. In the end she's a polished sales person. She just screwed up on mine but she's alright. Costco pricing cuts to the chase in negotiations. Just be careful they will press harder for you to get VIN etching, extended warranties and their financing. I went ahead with their financing because they got me 1 point lower than what I had already set up. In regards to the VIN etching, just say no. With the extended warrantee. If you really want to extend the bumber to bumper 48mo/50K warrantee don't get theirs. I have Geico insurance and they offer an extended warrantee for $24/6 month for an exact extension of the factory warrantee. The dealership was offering $30/month for their warrantee. You do the math. A side note on insurance prices. I am paying only $10 more per year for the 6 over the 3.

Whatever you do, don't jump into the deal. There are so many cars out there. I potentially would have had buyers remorse now that I've driven and bought the 6 (say 22hp over 160hp). Keep your mind and options open. Don't believe the hype!

Good luck.

Thanks for the help. I am probably going to get the membership. The executive one. I don't live with my parents though, thats why they can't add my name. A good friend also was looking at the 3 and ended up getting the 6 for maybe 2000 more or something. But I am set on the 3.

I actually went to Almaden Mazda, and test drove a 3. Before the test drive I specifically told the salesman I wasn't going to buy. But he still ran my credit and all that jive. Then they tried selling me the car for 23k, and it wasn't fully loaded.
I woudln't jump into th Costco Membership unless you're ready to buy, or really want to shop at Costco. If you end up using the costco membership to get a deal you'll have to show your card at the time of purchase. Till then you don't actually need the membership. Here's the link to the costco auto sales.

I just purchased a 5 door, manual, in Tit. Gray at $250 over invoice. I used a Rev It coupon ( which I bought on Ebay) and got $250 off PLUS another $500 off with the college program. I felt I did the best I could, considering the high demand and low supply right now.
I ended up picking up the 3 in silver with ABS/Auto/Leather/Moon for invoice and the college rebate (which dropped it another $500). I wish I would have picked up a rev it up coupon on ebay though to really get it at the lowest possible price. I did also get about $150-$200 in accessories. I think I may have been able to get one more accessory but I'm not sure on that. 8) 8) 8) this was probably the best deal I could have swung.
