I thought that would get your attention. I hope I didn't get your hopes up too high, but I may have found a way to turn off traction control along with the dynamic stability control. One day when I started the car and pressed the dsc button the traction control light came on with the dsc off light, I thought oh fuck what is wrong with my car (note I am not talking about the dsc off icon, I am talking about the icon that lights up when you lose traction). Anyway, I pushed the dsc button again and the traction control light went away along with the dsc off light. I pressed the button again and the dsc off icon lit up but not the traction control icon. So I have been wondering how I did this the first time and I finally figured it out today. If you press the dsc button within the first 5-10 seconds of starting the car both lights will stay illuminated. I believe this means both systems are disabled. After doing this I took a drive and the car pulled well and felt different, but it was a short drive so I don't know it could have been the cold weather today. Can someone try this and tell me if I am crazy. or am I really turning off traction control :bananadance:

I tried this one a while back, before i got the MS CAI, and i felt a difference too. That reminds me i need to go out and try it now that ive got the cai on and see if its all in my head. Ill be checking my boost levels accordingly.

AIght so i went for a little crazy run with both lights illuminated. At my customary stoplight i went for it, it does feels a bit quicker in the 1,2,3. theres a little more pull. It seems like i cant shift fast enough. I know it could all be in my head but until i get a vid. camera to document the differences i cant say for sure. But i did notice mid gear wheel spins in 2nd and 3rd, the result of 2 little ripples in the road, but ive never gotten THAT much wheel spin before. When i looked down at my speedo to see what i was going i was amazed at the amount of speed i had built up.

I had this happen to me twice (where both lights stayed lit) and I dismissed it as a glitch. I usually hit dsc again to turn off the traction control light. I'll give this a try.

hmm.. does this mean I have to go for a dang drive right now? it just snowed out, traction will be at an all time low, but I must know for sure if it does anything. News like this is possibly too good to just speculate.

Haven't had a chance to check it out with an actual road test yet, but I believe since I used to do this routinely and feel like it was stronger when I did. One point to note: you have to hit the DSC OFF button before the all the other icons turn off after their test light-up period is over. It might be 5 seconds, it might be less. If you do it after that, the TSC ON light doesn't light up again.

Good find, can't wait to see how my boost gauge reads when I go for a drive tomorrow!

I just went for a test drive, think I figured it out
there is no more power straight ahead, but it seems to defeat the boost cut with the wheel turned.
normally I can feel the boost come on strong if I hammer it through a turn and begin to straighten the wheel, tonight, didnt get that feeling, same power the entire way through. I brought the video camera, so ill check now to see if there is anything worth sharing.

I hate to be an asshole but this one has been out for a little while. MAybe it was on the other forum that i first heard of it, i think it was in conjunction with trying ot find button combos like the trip puter. But anyways thanks dread for making it public, now maybe we will get a few more people testing and giving their input. Allright everyone, wip out the stopwatches and boost meters. Ya know i never really noticed the boost reduction while the wheel was turned. Maybe im a doof.

I originally brought this up on the other forum a couple of weeks ago, but I couldn't figure how I got both light to go on until today. I actually asked a someone on this forum who claims he is a mazda master tech a few questions about this a while back, but I think he misunderstood me. He also gave me some info about reflashing the ecu. It was in a random thread but I read that he was a master tech and I couldn't pass up the opportunity to get some questions answered. Here is the link, scroll down. I list three questions and then he answers them. I am sure people knew of this before I posted, I just want to know if it really does anything or if I am imagining it. Nice vids as always by the way. Its crazy how the wheel spin when its cold.

Easter eggs are cool! Thanks for the info... It's alittle cold out.....But lemme start up the car...

Okay, just started up the car... and I now have both lights on. I believe one light (DSC) is on the tach "pod". And the Traction light is in the Speedo "pod". Right now car is warming up... back soon...
