I'm about to purchase some new tires. I'm wondering now, after looking at discount tire and being offered additional sizes, which tire size should I put on my stock Mazda 3 2008 17" rims?

205/50/17 is stock

215/45/17 saw on the sticky thread

225/45/17 saw on the sticky thread

215/50/17 plus 0 on discount tire

215/45/18 plus 1 on didscount tire

225/40/18 plus 1 on discount tire

215/35/19 Plus 2 on discount tire

I'm pretty sure I don't want the 18 or 19 rim sized tires since I only have 17s.

I'm wanting to try to improve my footprint since this is supposed to increase my handling for my spirited driving runs.

Is there other sizes i should consider? How will these affect the look of my car? I don't mind a little sticking out from under the fender but not too much...

After doing some more reading i think that 225/45/17 will be my best bet on the stock rims. If you think other wise please reply.

I feel for a 6.5" wide stock rim, 215/45 is best. If you had aftermarket 17x7 rims, I'd say 225/45.

225/45 is getting to be a lot of tire for the narrow stock rim.
