I'm getting RX8 wheels this week hopefully. I plan on painting them a light gold in the future. I ordered Kumho Ecsta SPT 225/40/18 yesterday. I can't believe I found this thread, I've been searching endlessly for something like this haha. Also, first weekend in October I will be dropped on Tein S-Tech.
Suspension: Tein Basic Coilovers (-2" front / -1.75" rear)
Suspension: Tein Basic Coilovers (-2.125" front / -1.75" rear)
Just a shot of the rays and the rx8 wheels, both are 18's and on 225/40/18 tires.
And just here's a bonus shot of how my brother has it sitting now.... Tein Basics (-2.125" front / - 1.8" rear) on Rays MST-II 18x7.5" wheels w/ Kumho SPT 225/40/18 tires
And the bonus shot.....Rays MST-II 18"x7.5" wheels on Kumho SPT 225/40/18 tires
As you can tell my rx8 wheels have some miles logged on to them. I have no major rubbing issues w/ the drops that I run on both setups. The only noteable issue is the rub w/ the damper body on the Tein Basic setup w/ drops more than 1.75". This issue was resolved w/ running slightly shorter free length springs up front. Much more pics of both cars can be found in my comprehensive picture archive/gallery post here on the forums.... I've only logged on about 5000 miles on the Kumhos so far, so I can't really give you an good longterm assessment on them quite yet. All I can say is that they ride pretty good for the 40-series and seem to be a good tire in terms of comfort and low road noise. The sidewalls are a bit soft so you'd probably want to run an extra 2-3psi of pressure to compensate. Otherwise reasonably priced at $404 for the set of 4 from discounttiredirect and have a UTQG (treadwear rating) of 360.
Great pics, I know that they are the next phase to my wheel buying habit. Thanks for putting together such a great thread!! I especailly enjoyed the comparison shots, with the Mazdaspeed wheels. Great info!!!
anybody have any pics of some painted or powdered ones
