New Rear Brake Pads are in: Part Number

I just got the call from my dealer and the updated pads for the 3 are available. They are for cars made before march, I think, newer vehicles had them installed at the factory. The Part number is:

BPYK-26-48Z

The dealership should install this for free, but most likely you will have to argue a bit. At least I won't have to wash rear wheels every week any more.

I got my car back yesterday. The rear pads are in and the wheels are shiny clean. I should know in about five days whether that strange smell is the smoke that's been blown up my ass seeping out, or if they really fixed the problem.

As for the part number, I was hesitant to post it fearing that another lie from the Mazda f***ers would make me look like a jackass. That being said, I have a theory...I was told that the factory began installing pads of a different composition in Feb./march, now it could be that since these pads will be on all 3's in the future they did not bother to change the part number. Trust me on this, when it comes to people at the dealerships, simple is always best.

That being said, if the dust is still present in a week, then Mazda owns me a good sum of money, since this was the final repair attempt under the GA lemon law.

Now, I don't doubt that other dealers in the US and Canada have fallen back on their official Mazda corporate bullshit manual when answering questions about your cars. I also don't harbor any bad feelings for anyone who thinks that I am wrong, it may turn out that I have once again believed their lies. Only time will tell.

Sorry for the long delay in posting. I wanted to give the new pads couple of weeks. I had the dealer wash the wheels inside and out when the installed the new pads so that I could better gauge the new pads' performance.

They are much better than the original factory pads. The front and rear wheels are still very clean. There is slightly more dust in the front than the rear, which is a good thing. The new pads make no noise either.

They also replaced that front mount that makes the squealing noise when the car is cold. Not that it matters in Georgia, it was over 90f this weekend and I hate to say this, but the A/C in our 3's sucks. But that's another post.
