How long do the 2.3's generally take to break in. Gas mileage for three tanks has been in the 26 mpg range. 85% highway, between 70-75. 2009 grand touring 5 door, ATX. I hope it gets better!

You should start to notice MPG improve after your first oil change. Also, gas mileage in the winter is typically worse than the summer. Do you live in a cold climate?

I noticed mine improve around 1000km. But then winter hit and it dropped again. Now that its warmer out I am getting about 600k on highway and 500 in the city. almost 6000km on the car right now with the temp around the freezing point.

Thats not out of the range for a 2.3 automatic. I also have an auto hatch, and drive about 80% interstate to/from work. If I go 70 the whole way I average about 29 mpg per tank. If I go 65 the whole way I can average 31-32 mpg per tank. Try going 65-70 on the highway for a couple tanks and I bet you'll see improvement.
