For those of you who know, Can a 2.0 speedo cluster be replaced with a 2.3 cluster if they are both auto. And for those who dont know, the 2.0 is pretty basic were the 2.3 has illumination and blue indiglo. Plugs on the back of both seem to be the same.

They're different colors? Weird. I imagine it's pretty interchangable.

Well on the basic cluster you can see everything when the car is not running and when it is running, glows the red amber color as the rest of the dash. On the 2.3 model, the cluster gauges are not shown when the car is running and when on the gauges appear and also has the blue indiglo color at the top of the 3 panels. Other than color appearance both are the same and have the same gauges.

Honestly I thought the i model would be the same as the s. I see what you are saying... the s model has what's i think is called electro-luminecent. I know the i model is slightly bigger body wise, but am not sure if the dash would be different.

Yeah, I thought they wouldn't cheap out on the cluster though, but it seems so.

You mostlikely will need to get the cluster reflashed as the keys are tied into the cluster and the ECU. Not to mention the mileage would need to be enter correctly to keep the car legal and/or for warranty purposes.

what the hell does reflashed mean? I am not flashing the speedo

Reflashed by the dealer in order for the car to start! As stated the PATS is tied into the cluster and the ECU!

Programmed exactly. the term flashing comes from the computer world where "Flash" memory is often used for computer BIOS. the term re-flashing simply means erasing and reprogramming the memory chip.

They won't do it for nothing, and you'd have to figure out what their labour rate is, as it varies from task to task. My guess is that it would not be cheap.

Agreed. You have to pay someone to push a button.

If they would be willing to do it at all. they may not, stealerships are kind of funny that way. warranties and all.

and thats not to say it will even work. dont see why it shouldnt but..... having a good relationship with your service provider helps!
