ok so here is my story
yesterday night rained like hell here and i was driving my car and i got a cel caused by the maf beeing wet with watter
i've stop at my girlfriend place and when i started the engine had troubles to rev and to idle , i needed to press on the acceleration to keep the engine alive, after 3 min everthing was ok

this morning i try to start the engine to go to work and same thing only worse it took me 3 tries to keep the engine reving and any pressing of the gas pedal takes about one full second to react to it

so i decide to clean the maf, the filter witch was full of salt, and then i try to start the engine same thing, fuck i remove my sparkplugs they all have carbon deposits big time and the 3 piston one even has oil or watter.

for a very long time my tail pipe is allways black as hell full of carbon and ive said maybe i am runnig to rich so i look at the CPS (crank position sensor) montza timming mod it sliiped back to full retard not advance...please help what the fuck is causing the porb?

You have no CEL right now after cleaning the MAF? Those plugs don't look good, maybe they are black due to the timing when it was advanced??? Just a guess....please update us on this.

our cars naturally run a bit rich. that's the reason for the tip being dirty.

as for the plugs, that's a lot of build up for the short time you've had this problem.

get some new plugs, those are fouled to hell. after that come back and update with status.

just change them.

the black, if they were white you could have just scratch off the residues on it.

i would say, change them and you should be good to go.
aslo i would pull out ur CAI and clean the tubing.

Ick, I hate the 4 prong spark plugs. I rarely have any success with them. They tend to hide more of the fuel air mixture from the spark then any benifit they provide. I have the best success with good old fashioned NGK V power plugs. Single prong Iridium plugs are pretty good as well and they also last a long time.

If it was an issue with advanced timing the plugs would be white/melted due to high combustion temps. High ignition temps tend to cause white plugs...running to rich usually lowers combustion temps leaving big carbon deposits, running to lean causes to high a temp causing white/melted plugs timing advanced to far also ramps up the ignition temp.

I do suggest you cleaner your air filter as well.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

I ran into a problem running these. LOTS and LOTS of misfires and hesitation. I got the cheap NGK plugs from Napa and they run perfectly. When I asked the dealer about all the misfires he said that the Mazda 3 (as well as a lot of other Japanese made cars) absolutely HAVE to have NGK plugs for them to run right. PLEASE don't make the mistake I did spending $40 just to throw it out the door.

ok so ive changed the spark plugs and now i am missing big time power, in second gear if i press on the gas pedal i cannot feel the bump it just acelerates linear no more bump, can this be from doing the vcts removal??

Are you still experiencing the 1 second delay when you press the gas pedal? If you are then that could be some kind of failure of the throttle body. Maybe some water got up in it and caused it to short or something? Might check that.
