Need advice on Front struts

1839 Views 9 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  RonTonkinMazda
My right front strut is leaking oil. Any suggestion for a good replacement?

The cheapest I've seen is the Mazdaspeed ones for $108. I'm not looking for anything fancy and I am stock height.

Also, anyone got a link to instructions on changing out the struts on a 3? I did a search and came up with nothing :(

i usualy use KYB's to replace stock shocks, but it looks like they only make the rears for our car http://www.amazon.com/KYB-343412-GR2-Shock/dp/B000HDH1CU

the cheapest replacement i see on tirerack is $174 each for the KoniSports, but i havnt looked anywhere else. Where are the mazdaspeeds for 108? Let me know if you come across anything else.

o yea, I'll see howmuch mazdamotorsports charges for the stockers, or mazdaspeeds and get back to you

The website's catalog is ....CRAP, as far as searching for struts. The pages will break down to a page for the front struts, but it gives you 6 strut options with no description. From searching on other sites, there is a front left and a front right strut for Mazda 3's with a 15/16 inch wheel and a front left and front right strut for 17 inch wheel. The rear shock is universal. The pricing is correct though. I called Ron Tonkin 503-257-2490 and got part numbers. There is a search option using a part numbers but NONE of the part numbers I was given returned any search results. I gave the guy on the phone a recommendation that someone might want to look into improving this function so people like me don't have to call and waste their time. Customer service over the phone was great I do have to say. The guy even called me back to let me know the part wasn't in stock and they'd ship as soon as an order came in.

Here's the part numbers for mazda 3 struts/shocks with a 15/16 inch wheel

Front : BN9A34900 $76.68
Left
Front : BN9A34700 $76.68
Right
Rear : BP4K28910-D $65.16

Shipping is 8% of total price which brought my total to about $305. Guy said their shipments come in on Monday so they should get it out that day via UPS ground.

well the bad news is the company we use for the website is one of the few ones that offers what we need if you look at most vendors its all trademotion. also if i take the part number we gave you and that you posted here and put them in the search section and choose mazda it goes right to them. Thanks for giving us a call and ordering the struts i have emailed the company that runs the catalog to see about getting it updated and more user friendly though. Thanks again for the purchase. Glad to hear Eric was helpful on the phone!
You are correct about the part search working at the startup page but if you go to search by drill down for replacement parts and enter Mazda, 2004 and end up on the page for the Mazda 3i, the search by part number no longer returns any results. It may be just a minor quirk in the system. Thanks again for the great price and service though. It was a pleasureable experience. I was probably a bit irritated after searching multiple websites without much results and I do recall running into the catalog breakdown which seems to be trademotion. I apologize if my post came off as a bit harsh. Again, the service was great and you guys had the best price on the web from what I could find.
