Nice I'd love to check out how you installed your setup, mine's going in within the next month :) Already have my comps, comp amp, sub and sub amp, just need an LOC and wiring. 8)

Tip to everyone though: SONY SUCKS @ CAR AUDIO. The Xplode series is notorious for being crap.

Visit : http://www.caraudio.com/forum/ for great tips and deals on brands, best site for car audio on the net imo.
I hear it sucks too. But I never owned any xplode stuff and havent heard it. For what I need I think it would work. No bass competitions or anything. Personally I would go with Alpine, best stuff for the money.
Everyone has an opinion. While I not crazy over Sony's car audio line-up I won't say they suck. Depending on what your trying to do in your car Sony might work for you. A few years ago I had a Sony D1000P5 that was a really good amp for me. So though I know there are lots of other options out there I will admit Sony works for some. So congrats to 07mazda3s on the system.
Making generalizations like "sony sucks at car audio" only makes everyone aware of your ignorance. Like most all companies, they have different levels and lines of products.  Of course if you get two subs, a box, and an amp for $150, its not going to sound like a w7.  I have a higher end sony amp and it powers my sub wonderfully. It delivers crisp, clear, powerful bass at all volumes.  You are entitled to your own opinion, but I would never haul off and post in someone elses thread that their amp is crap. Not only rude, but a real nOOb thing to say.  Just so everyone knows..my amp is an xm-2002gtr [http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Sony-2-Channel-Xplod-Amplifier-XM2002GTR/sem/rpsm/oid/144142/catOid/-13641/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do and I would highly recommend it to others.  Funny, it has been reviewed by 12 customers WHO ACTUALLY HAVE THIS AMP!!! and received an average overall rating of 4.6 out of 5.  That is pretty good in my opinion.  I had an eclipse amp before the sony and like the sony ten times better.

:end rant:

Just my 2 cents.

The pics I promised:

Cell phone pictures, terrible glare, but you still get the idea. My box is huge, probably weighs 60 lbs, I calculate it to be somewhere around like 3.2-3.3 cubic feet, and it tucks in so nicely, leaving a lot of room in the trunk.

Box in trunk http://s141.photobucket.com/albums/r58/hdaniel428/?action=view&current=subbox.jpg

Amp http://s141.photobucket.com/albums/r58/hdaniel428/?action=view&current=amp.jpg

Still earning the approx. $150 for new rca cables, rca converter, and professional install (only to not void extended warranties purchased on both sub and amp).

Me and my pops are gonna build a rack to hang the amp from the roof of the trunk.

I HONESTLY CAN NOT WAIT ANY LONGER!!!

I agree, just about every company makes competition grade stuff. You cant judge a company because stores like bestbuy sell its cheapest equipment. But on the other hand for some reason Sony has a reputation for having less then stellar car audio stuff. Like I said, I never heard any xplode so I cant say, but if you buy xplode stuff you have to expect people to tell you it sucks. I doubt it does, sony isnt known for making anything shitty. Someone said "xplode sucks" somewhere a few years ago and people just spread the rumor without ever hearing how it sounds.

WELL PUT.

Since it says on here I can't send PM's (can't figure out why), I'll just post on here and hope operator reads it. I was in no way mad at you. I didn't realize you even had a w7 until after my post about them. I was just using it to make an analogy. What I was getting at was if you pay for crap, thats what you will get. Like those little kits where you get two 12s a box and an amp for like 150 dollars is going to sound like you only paid $150. I listed w7 bc they are very nice.

Edrection, next time I am in the market, I want two alpine type E 12's. I know they are not alpines best model but I love the way they sound. I'm pretty sure if I threw two of them in a ported box with my current amp and wired them down to two ohms it would be the loudest system out of all my friends. But for now I'm extremely happy with my one mtx. It hits soo hard for just one $100 12. When mtx designed the thunder 4500 subwoofer, they designed my box specifically to go with it. Take my word for it, it slams.

Im running a single r-12 and it kicks ass. I had a e-12 before that. My brother in law gave it to me for installing his system. I wouldnt recommend it. Its about as low quality as it gets. Unless you dont plan on putting much power in it, its OK. Otherwise I'd spend more for the R. I would rather have 1 r-12 than 2 e-12's.
Would 1 R sound good in my biga$$ ported box? Usually, I only see alpines in teeny tiny enclosures.
