Hi,

New to the forum. I bought a Mazdaspeed3 Sport the other day Its Sunlight Silver and kicks allot of a$$. However I haven't played to much with since I'm still breaking it in. It suprises me that the sales staff not only at mazda dealerships but other competitor dealerships no nothing about the cars they sell in my region. So I'm glad this forum is here so I can post some questions if I have any. I was going to post pictures but I drove my car in the snow today so its not so clean.

Oh by the way ...I'm curious what did you all pay for your speed3's? Reason why I am asking most dealerships in my area are still charging 1000 - 2500 over MSRP. I ended up going to dealership that was sort of out of my way as far as distance wise and was able to get the car for 500 less then MSRP.

Most people are paying MSRP on speeds. You got a good deal for $500 off. I went to 2 of the 3 Mazda dealerships in my area; one would not go under MSRP and I was able to get about $500 off MSRP at the other.

I got mine right at MSRP, but mine was a GT and they were in no hurry to bargain on it with me.

Well I'm happy I have no complaints except for the fact that my insurance went up 200 bucks. I shouldn't complain though because I called around after I was told it would be 573 dollas every six months and geico, statefarm, progressive were asking for little over 1000 dollars ever six months to insure from them. By the way this is full coverage.

My insurance went down after buying a my mazdaspeed. Some how a Civic coupe was more of a "Sports" car then the 3 Speed is. I know coupe cost more but I would think that hp would play a role also.

Same here. Around here, they know what they have (or don't have very many of I should say). I pick it up on Saturday and have an appt for some window tint (not limo) later in the day...

I think it has something to do with the fact that there are SO MANY Civics in the world. Insurance companies see lots of claims on Civics because the every 5th person drives one. (And the more Civics there are... the more that are stolen). That drives the rates up. I had a '98 Accord that wasn't fast or anything special... but insurance was a bit high because it was one of the most stolen cars in the country. It was a good car... and there were so many of them.

i had the same problem with a camry i owned. the insurance was as high as my damn town car. when i asked why, they cited 2 reasons.
1: the car is a top target for theives
2: they claimed the parts were expensive.

i didn't get the parts thing, because at the time the car was already 7 years old and there were more than plenty off them in junkyards. gas mileage on that car was phenomenal though. 5$, and i would do my regular driving route for about 3 days. owned that ride for 6 years and never had a problem. truly a good car.

Parts were expensive for the earlier Camrys, since they were manufactured elsewhere. And Camry's are like the easiest car in the world to steal.

That thing would have ran until your children's children turned 200. As long as it was a 4-cyl. The Toyota 6 from that time-span had oil sludge issues.

it also has to do with the fact that the speed 3 has not been evaluated by the insurace companies and they are treating it as an extra trim level on a basic 3. i imagine all rates will go up once they realize these things will eat almost every other fwd sport compact on the road (excluding evo, sti)

My insurance company sure knows what's going on with that thing.
