my first event of the year, this thread will probably be locked, but I know very few MS3 owners check the autocross boards, so anyway, I apologize in advance RB or whomever :p
here is the link to the other thread with video.

I recorded all 5 runs, but considering the low resolution and the not so exciting course and the camera being inside rather than on the roof, Im only posting one this time around.

Few comments about the car and how it drives in stock form. ITS AMAZING!
never could I imagine a fwd car on 215's in stock trim handling any better than this car did today. It was beautiful and I am amazed by how well mazda put this car together out of the box. The stock suspension works great and I can only imagine how nice it will be once I get some better dampened shocks on it.
There was zero understeer and just a hint over oversteer in the slalom. The car is very well balanced and the front and rear sways are pretty much perfect for it, I wouldnt recomend upgrading either one unless you really knew what you were doing and wanted. the balance is just right.

and im not here to blow smoke up our collective asses, I will always tell it like it is, good or bad, and this car is a great platform.
Now if the 245's fit, and I go back next weekend with proper tires, things will be that much better.
then in 2 weeks when I run my first R compound event with my new shocks, Ill really begin to know whats up.

What shocks are you going with? Are you sticking with the stock springs?
[/quote]

will be keeping the stock springs (class rules) and will be running custom valved bilsteins until koni dual adjustables become available (months from now). The stock setup really isnt that bad, but can use just a bit more dampening and a smidge of rebound.

that has to be the nastiest autox course i've ever seen.

Ill agree with you this time. It was not pretty, nothing to write home about, but beggars cant be choosers this early in the east coast season.
