The search option could be your best friend.

No, the 6CD changer dosen't play MP3s, and there is no mod available to do it.

What model year is your car? I believe that the MP3 changer is compatible with 2006-07 model years.

Yes, obviously that is why the OP asked if the MP3 changer will work in his car.

First off, Mz3 please. The M3 is made by BMW. :p ;) Second is the same question from GT1, what year is your car. Third question is where are you located? In the US this is the info. For 2004-2005 there was a single disc CD/Mp3 player available. For 2006-2007 there is a 6cd/Mp3 available. In 2006 the wiring harness was changed so that the LCD is separate so that you could replace the HU and keep ACC, ambient temp, etc. I don't know if you can just take the changer portion itself and replace that and have it work, so maybe someone else will chime in about that, however I know if you try to replace an entire HU from a newer model into an older one that the LCD won't work (nothing to plug into it's harness.

If you're going to give people the good 'ol "search" response please make sure the info. you're giving them is correct. CD/Mp3 players have been available for this car since it's introduction.

The 6CD changer never had the MP3 option.

Well that will make a bunch of people who purchased the 6CD/Mp3 player --and installed it in their cars, and who have been using them for over a year to play Mp3 CDs-- very unhappy.

Please note that I said "In the US this is the info.". I'm not saying that it's offered as an accessory in all countries. Hell, I think the CD/Mp3 comes standard in other countries. I'm saying that in the US there are two options:

1)'04-'05 single disc CD/Mp3
2)'06+ 6CD/Mp3

Also for your edification

P/N BC0A79EGX- 6CD/Mp3, no bose, no DIS
P/N BS0B79EGX- 6CD/Mp3, no bose, with DIS
P/N BS0D79EGX- 6CD/Mp3, with bose, with DIS (Here's a F/S thread for this one)

Thoughts?

Well, didn't know Uncle Sam had the MP3 option, because we still don't have it here..

Well just like the sirius option I'm sure you could buy one and have it work perfectly. You'd just have to reset the ambient temp. to Celsius.

My MS3 has 6 disk Bose system but is not MP3 compatable. I e-mailed Mazda asking for information on an upgrade, however, they said none was currently available. They did say to keep an eye on the mazdausa.com site in the near future for an upgrade, so I'm hopeful
