Anybody have any issues with water/moisture in their ECU or on ECU pins when using the cp-e PnP? I've had mine for about 5-6 months, and water got down to the pins, allowing corrosion. Now, its costing me $1862 to get the ECU replaced.

The main problem is the failure to plug the slots in the connectors. The factory connectors have orange tabs to fill the gap, where as the cp-e plugs do not, allowing water to drip down into the ECU.

Just trying to see if anybody has had any problems, as I know of 2, including myself.

Believe me, I've been talking to Jordan about it. He initially told me that if it was the PnP that caused the problem, they'd take care of me. Lets hope they stick with the excellent customer service that they've been known for.

Not sure how water got in there, cause I've never sprayed my engine down, but here are some pics of the plug and plug and my ecu pins:

Glad to hear you are communicating with them. Hopefully they can come up with a fix asap. Did your ecu short out?

Their PNP harness does not come with some type of rubber grommets that surround the plugs?

No sir, they don't have anything but the plastic connectors, which have the slot open in the middle. The factory ones, however, do have a tab for protection. Both Jordan and Lou stated they used factory connectors...guess they didn't come with the tabs :(

Yeah, my ECU did crap out, requiring the purchase of a new one. Additionally, they say that the new ECU requires re-keying the car, but that was only like $50.

On the good side, hopefully I'll have my car back this week, as I've been without it for over a month now.

Unfortunatly, you are the first and hopefully the last with this problem. Knowing CP-e, they will resolve the issue quickly and make sure it does not happen again. CP-e's customer support is top notch, so they will not leave you in the wind. :)

Agreed, I truly hope that I am the one and only and that cp-e does fix this problem for the sake of the community. Luckily I have a car to drive while the Speed is out, but its pretty inconvenient, as the other car isn't mine. Until the fix is released, I won't put the PnP back on, which means my Standback won't be installed. Additionally, by having the ECU replaced, I lose my cp-e FullControll Flash :(

Going to try to call again today. Last two days I've called nobody has answered. Gotta drop off my spare key to Mazda to save $50...sad.

+1

To the OP, are you the ONLY one with a problem like this?

Another guy had the same moisture/water in the ECU, but it didn't cause the same problem. He threw a CEL for high voltage and his DTC went crazy. He said he took the ECU, turned it upside down, and water dripped out.

If you have the PnP, take it out and look at it. The slots in the middle of the connectors are wide open, clearly an easy channel for water to make it down there.
