Took my 2010 ms3 w/ 60k miles to the dealer due to a clicking sound when the car moves from a stop, and transmission whine. They drained the transmission fluid and are telling me I need a new trans since they found a fair amount of metal shavings. I did some research and it sounds like its somewhat common to have metal shavings in these cars transmission fluid, (I did have the 2nd to 3rd gear grind every once in a while before getting shifter bushings & motor mounts) I've also heard some people say they hear the transmission whine after upgrading motor mounts. My question is, do I really need a new transmission if it shifts fine and they get most of the shavings out?

I'm thinking time for a second opinion as nothing I'm hearing from your post rises to the threshold of a new transmission.
