If any of you live in California or Oregon call Wawanesa right away! I pay $280/year for my Speed3 and $520/year for my Lotus. This is with a 250 deductible, max uninsured motorist blah blah blah.

I cannot believe how expensive some of your rates are they way out of line. Hell when I was 16 they were not as high as most I am seeing right now...

how old are you and what does your driving record look like the past 3 years ?

I'm 27 as most of you guys already know with 10 years of good driving record. The company just said it was all because of the change in category. So now I have to look for another car maybe a Lexus, BMW or a Truck. This way the monthly payment for the insurance on my speed3 will go to the new car payment.

That's what I have been doing since last night and the lowest rate I found is the one I already have $1145/6mos.

I did call wawake? anyways, they're like an agency and they have like 300 different types of insurance company around Cali and the cheapest one they have is Esurance $1300 and then the State Farm $1400. Both for 6 mos. period. That's bullshit!

Location matters quite a bit as well, and living in big congested city doesn't help. A friend of mine moved from Miami to South Carolina and his insurance dropped from >$900 every 6 months to around $400. I'm 33, my record has been clean for the last 5 years (the 2 speeding tickets were all taken care of in court and don't show up) and I pay $1047 for six months (Allstate). I have the basic bodily injury coverage as well as rent-a-car re-imbursement with a comprehensive and collision deductible of $500.

Hmm... my understanding is that State Farm is a "captive agent" company, meaning agents who sell State Farm ONLY sell State Farm. Interesting that these guys would give you quotes from other companies.

Here's my suggestion: go to www.trustedchoice.com, click on "find a trusted choice agent", and plug in your zip code to find an independent agent in your area.

They are a company that certifies independent insurance agents. We are a Trusted Choice agent and write with 8 different companies for personal auto insurance.

Keep in mind that age, sex, location, driving history, claims history, marital status, and vehicle type all factor into the rate. If you're under 21 or under 25, you're going to pay more.

Just turned 29 this year and have a clean driving recored.
