I see that Mazda has a new PCM 50.1 update.
I plan to take my car in on Wednesday, once my Yellow Top Optima battery arrives to take care of the new 5 TSB bullentins that I see for the Mazda3. Questions for anyone.

1. Will the dealer fix all of them even if you are not having issues with 2 of them.

2. Has anyone put a mouse pad under their battery to cushion it and for future battery leaks? Will these burn?

3. Has anyone every put clear paint sealer on the bolts and metal that is located inside the battery compartment so rust will not get worst? Will this cause a fire? This was recommended to me from DC Care care website. Regarding a battery leak.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

where are you seeing the latest pcm bulletins?

the dealer, given their discretion, will only fix what is broken. if your vin doesn't apply, they don't have to fix it. if you insist, they likely would but probably charge you a flat rate diagnostic fee.

i haven't had a battery leak so i cannot tell you. as far as the bolts, jsut buy new ones when needed.

I was just about to post a question asking the same...what is the PCM? What does it do? The dealer just ordered a new PCM for my 06 and when he put it in it threw alot of codes. They have had my car for a week now trying to clear all the codes.

Why did the dealer install a new PCM? How did you know it was bad? How many miles do you have on your 06? I hope that I dont need a new ne, but if so, It is still under warranty.

I was having idling problems when I start my car that would go away once the car warmed up. I took to the dealer and thats what they think is causing the problem. Its been over a week now, hopefully they will have my car ready soon. They are doing it all under warranty so Im not complaining.

I wasnt even sure what the PCM was or does. For all the problems the new PCM is giving they might as well put the old PCM back in and flash it. I hope to have my car back soon, driving my dads pick up truck sucks!

So a flash might have fixed things up instead of getting a new PCM? Im not sure why Mazda didnt just flash it. Whats really got me puzzled is why they are doing it under warranty when my warranty ended a couple miles ago.

Well for pete's sake, don't tell them you're warranty is up. That could be really expensive if they charged you for it.

Does anyone have experience in this, that when you update the PCM and TCM, does the dealer flash the ECU?
BTW: The new updated PCM is 50.12.

The dealer knows the warranty is up. The only thing they asked me is if I did any electrical work to the car. They questioned me about the BCC but I told them what it does and that was it. they said they would replace the PCM under warranty. Im going there tomorrow morning to see what happening with the car.

I given the dealership til the end of the week. If they cant fix my car they can put the old PCM back in. 2 weeks is long enough.
