That is why I decided to get a Japanese car. I used to be all hardcore Ford until I went to Japan and had a '94 Nissan Pulsar. Man I loved that little car. 10 years old and no issues whatsoever. Most reliable car I have ever owned until now (I hope) :D

Looks good, but if the cars had to be at least three years old it makes me wonder what Mazdas were actually a part of the survey. The Mazda3 was introduced for the 2004 model year, so I doubt many of them made it in (if at all). When was the RX-8 introduced?

Don't get me wrong, it speaks well of the Mazda brand. It isn't necessarily saying our cars are that reliable, though.

good point, however it still speaks well for Mazda regardless of what cars were looked at. The cars surveyed were probably the protege, mx-5, 626, rx-7 (Maybe), millenia

Check this site: http://www.reliabilityindex.co.uk/m...8339010848601&country=usa&searchtype=relindex - it's the source for all the other reports... even though it uses data from the warranty company...

That is a little skewed since it's a warranty company....(wanting to sell extra warranty protection)...not really accurate ratings. The Mazda3 hasn't been out that long to give really accurate reliability numbers.

The JD Powers data is [typcially] for the first 90 days of ownership. Their site does list the criteria they use. I have found JD Powers to to be quite reliable and mirrored my experiences on every car I owned. YMMV.

I agree with report.
Had an 87 RX-7 from new until some 115K miles and never had any problems!
So, I came back to Mazda and bought a MZ3 which I am very happy with and with no problems in two years!

Almost an issue but not exactly.
I live in Las Vegas and must say in the summer the A/C is just adequate and in no way strong. It could have been stronger, but it has improved since 04 models.

I have been a member of this board for two years and a member of two other Grand Am boards for years before. There are a lot less problems I see popping up on this board than there are on the Grand Am boards, back 5 years ago up till now.

You cannot compare a North America car's reliability with a Japanese.
