I emailed Mazda a few weeks back about Mazdaspeed parts for the MS3. Here is my email and the reply they sent me.

My email

I am interested in the Mazdaspeed line of performance products. I am
wondering if you have a release date for the performance parts on the
Mazdaspeed3? Any information would be helpful.

Also, while I was doing searching the internet, I found some
references to retail prices on a few parts. Can you confirm the pricing or if
the pricing is near these values?

Cold Air Intake (GRMS-8M-L29) $800.00
Catback Exhaust (GRMS-8M-L26) $1500.00

I have been an enthousiast for many years, buying factory backed
performance products on other makes and models. I would like to do this
with my Mazdaspeed3, however, if the prices that are circulating the
internet are true, I will not be purchasing.

Thank you

Mazda's Reply

Thanks for contacting Mazda.

Below are the ETA's for some of the performance accessories:

The cold air intake ETA will be early February 2007
The sport exhaust ETA will be early February 2007
The coil over suspension ETA will be mid to late February 2007
The sport spring kit ETA will be early March 2007

The pricing that you referred to is fairly accurate. However the
pricing has not been finalize and may vary dealer to dealer, as they are
independently owned and operated businesses.

Again, thank you for contacting Mazda.

I would go for it...even though the price is a total dick over...the parts are warrented from the factory and installed by the dealer. I am too old to be faulking around under the hood and hate to get greesy...I thought the package also included new light weight wheels??? Can someone confirm? This package is likely to cost about $4,000.00 when all is said and done.

Don't forget dealer installation cost. I'm thinking $5500 w/dealer install and forged aluminum wheels. That's a lot just to keep grease out of your fingernails and the have the parts included in the warranty.

Perhaps but Acura charges that for the A-spec kits that don't even give the 30hp that this set of parts will do for us.

I do think $2300 for those parts are a bit high. But unlike a lot of Intake + Exhaust sets that don't provide a lot of extra HP, this one apparently does. And it's fully covered by Mazda. That's a huge deal for me.

Those forged wheels are $2200/set and then there's tires on top of it. I figure $4700 for CAI + Intake + Wheels plus labor. Probably $5500 for just those three. Then the coilovers and springs on top of that. Getting rather expensive :)

Figured out why they're so expensive. Just incase you blow the motor there is enough *padding* in the cost to nearly cover a new engine @ their cost. So is it worth the extra 500/intake and 700/catback to retain the warranty? Does mazda expect this extra power to cause major problems? Guess we'll see.

Lexus, smexus. MT is not even available except on the IS 250. I still can't believe they don't even offer MT on the 350. That's worse than Mazda not offering AT on the MS6.
