Mazda 3 2013 No Driver Unlock Button

Hi guys,

New buyer of a used 2013 Mazda 3 i Touring here. The car is in great shape, there's just one little thing that is missing.. the driver side door handle doesn't have a keyless unlock button on it. It's not a deal-breaker, so I picked up the car despite this, but I'm wondering if this is abnormal? Or how hard it would be to add a keyless entry button to the driver door. The passenger side door has it, and it works great. Im guessing the previous owner had to have the handle replaced and opted for a cheaper option? If that's a possibility. Any advice would be appreciated! Just curious what I could do as it seems very convenient as I usually keep my keyfob in my bag, would love to not have to take it out to unlock the car.

Thanks in advance for any help!!

Oops, I believe this may have posted in the wrong area. If so, I'll delete it and remake. Haven't used forums in a long while, sorry about that.

Sure, here is the inside of the door. I hope this is what you meant. I also included a photo of the outside, showing the lack of a button for remote entry.

Hmmm...handle must have been replaced or maybe even the entire door. Answer depends. If all the stuff is still inside the door and the right wiring harness, etc., then you just need a new door handle. OTOH, if there is stuff missing, you'll have to figure out what's missing and fix that.

Thanks for the help. That's what I figured. Would it be hard to check if the hardware for the remote lock is in there? I've never really modded a car myself but I'm not opposed to taking some plastic paneling off. If it is that simple. I know sometimes it isn't.

Worse comes to worst, do you think a Mazda dealership would help me with this? Even if I had to overpay a bit.
Look for some YouTube videos. I'm sure you'll find one that shows someone replacing that handle.

You could take the door card off -- that's what the inside part of the door is called -- on both the driver and passenger side and compare the guts. The driver side will have the master control for the windows, so that may account for something different, but the rest should be the same.

Dealer will be expensive.

Alright, thanks so much for your help. I know what I need to do I believe, just about finding the time and patience to do it. Thanks a bunch for real!
