This car is for my wife. We've had our eye on the 3i ever since we first heard about it. A nearby dealer finally got a bunch recently, so on a whim we decided to go test drive one yesterday.

Here's what we thought we wanted: 3i 5-spd in red, blue, or silver, with the ABS/Power,16" alloy/AC packages. We test-drove a 3i 5-spd in shimmering sand with the Power/16" alloy and A/C packages (no ABS).

My wife loved it so much that she changed her mind on the color and ABS requirement; consequently we now have that very same shimmering sand 3i in our garage right next to my '01 Miata.

I must say -- it looks beautiful, the features are impressive, the power is more than adequate, the EPA mileage ratings are good, the build quality appears to be very good, and we're just thrilled so far. :)

EDIT: Topic heading

MD?

Rider, I see your from Maryland. Where at? I live in Hagerstown, MD!

My dealer has sold 3 Mazda3's so far. A Velocity Red MZ3 i (manual sedan), a Sunlight Silver MZ3 s (auto sedan) and mine. They have a Winning Blue MZ3 s sedan and a Sunlight Silver MZ3 hatch still on lot.

I just thought it was cool to see someone else in MD..

Hey, I'm in the Columbia/Ellicott City area. Any good driving roads up around Hagerstown? How about hiking trails? :)

BTW, my dealer sold 2 Mazda 3's while I was there. Not sure how many they've sold in all, but they appear to be selling a fair number. However, I still haven't seen one on the road other than my wife's.

Ellicott City eh? I know the area well from my Baltimore trips. Lots of awesome driving roads 'round here. Also, we have 5 really nice state parks for hiking. Part of the App. Trail comes through us as well.

Our dealer has sound 3 sedans (2 automatics and 1 manual) so far. We still have one sedan and one hatch on the lot.

Actually went to Rich Morton Mazda just off of Route 2 a couple of days before Christmas to check-out a Mazda3 they had. It showed 47 miles on the Odometer and they were only willing to go as low as $200 over invoice. So I walked.

Used to work in White Marsh, near Best Buys.

Heh, I paid $700 over invoice. :D That's my fault though since I hate to bargain. I was perfectly happy paying $100 less than Edmund's TMV...and after the loyalty bonus it was only $200 over invoice anyhow. I have to say, once I told 'em how much I was willing to pay, they treated me very nicely indeed.

Hi margomaps, do you have any pictures? I like the shimmering sand color, with the beige interior, but I want an S hatch. Congratulations!
No pictures yet -- hopefully this weekend. The shimmering sand is nice, but if I had gotten the 3s, I'd have gone for the titanium...yummy!

I like titanium, but it's getting too common. I am sold to Velocity Red after seeing it in person on a 3.
