Manitoba Tint and License Plate Laws

Hey all .. just moved from Alberta to Manitoba and have a few questions:

1) I had tint put on my car in Alberta but I know in Manitoba they don't allow cars to have more than 50% on the rear side windows and nothing on the back. I have 7% on the back and 35% on the sides so do you think the cops are real sticklers with tint? It's weird cause SUV's and vans are aloud to have any amount of tint.

2) In Alberta we had only rear license plates. Manitoba has a front and rear plate. Has anyone been hassled by the cops for not having their front plates displayed? I don't have the bracket for the front plates and I really don't want to put any holes on the front of the car if I can get away with it.

i thought the manitoba tint laws were: 45% front / rear 30% / back 30%
Welcome to winterpeg

Here's some nfo for ya regarding tints:
http://www.canlii.org/mb/laws/regu/1993r.99/20061107/whole.html

In regards to plates, i know we are required by law to have both and I have sen a few vehicles without them..I was not impressed that they went back to 2 plates..
Depends on the cop I would think but I haven't tried without my front plate off
Ya I've called around to do my car safety inspection and I've got conflicting tint amount allowables. I do know however that you are not allowed any tint on the rear window if you have a car (SUV's and vans are exceptions to this rule).

I think I'll keep both my tints and license plates and play innocent. I can tell the police that the tint came with the car hoping they won't know the Alberta rules and I don't see how a police officer that stops me from behind can see that I have my front plate missing. I don't see an officer doing a U-turn to stop me if they see the front plates missing if they are driving in the opposite direction. I say this because my friend got his truck broken into and he tried to flag some cops down and they just kept on driving .. he went as far as driving his truck (with smashed window) and honked his horn beside the police cruiser and the cops still didn't even stop .. eventhough they could clearly see the broken window!
Cops were prb heading to Tim Hortons :p
Legal tint is 50% front, 35% rear (which is what I have).

The front plate is mixed. I've seen many cars running without one, but they place it on the dash. I think it's up to the officer if they want to catch them or not. Honestly they should just remove that two plate rule, I don't like the look of a plate in the front of the car.

Welcome to Winnipeg btw!
40% or 35% rear; 50% front is what i have i think - i forget. just becareful when driving at night.

i remember one time, it was a sunday, and my boyfriend and i were cruisin on portage. it was pretty dead that day because of the rain. we got pulled over because of his tint, but the weird thing is...they were factory!!! i think the cops were really bored that day, but we didn't get a ticket.
omg it's celeste
To clear up the confusion:

Just click on 'province-by-province tint law chart'.

Manitoba is 45% for front side, 30% for rear side, and any tint for the rear.
the front plate you will get hassled for sure. The tint you will be okay with because most cops arent looking for tint jobs unless your out on portage on sunday. but I would put the front plate on, I know they pull people over for front plates. Just zip tie it into the bottom portion of the grille. im sure it would work
keep a broken plate holder IN your car with a plate on it. if you get pulled over, say it broke and you're wating for one to come in from mazda
