Hey Everyone

I just got a M3 Lip spoiler but its a tad too long. I'm just wondering if it was just me, or did anyone that purchased a M3 Lip had the same issue. Its about 3 cm longer and it would look really weird if i didn't modify it. It would hang off the edge of the trunk :?

I plan to cut/trim the outter edge to fit, but i'm afraid it would be all choppy on the edges as its suppose to be round. If I go ahead and trim and sand it, would the sanding make the edges worst or does that depend on the sand paper? I only saw two Mazda3 sedans on this forum with a M3 lip, one was grey, and one was black. The grey seemed to be too short, and the black seem to be perfect.

Anyhow, any help will do.

Thanks!

Let me guess, you bought an universal one which the seller claimed to be for mazda 3. Accolade's fitment sucks, but at least it's not 3 cm off.

Yeah, its an aftermarket replica of the BMW M3 Lip. Now I just need to know how to trim this thing if its even possible.

i bought mine off ebay....came painted too to match....i haven't put it on yet, but i did hold it up to the trunk and it's fine, goes right to the edge of the trunk on both sides....its the same type...the M3 taped on style....there are several sizes and i guess yours was a bit long.

Yeah, I think it will fit better when i shape it again. After taking those pictures, I used a heat gun and shaped it to the bends of the trunk. It seems to fit "better". Its only off by like 2mm. I haven't installed it yet, been waiting to get my other stuff ready for painting as well. Hope the paint won't crack when i try to bend it during installation.

From what I remember, there's a member on here with a titanium grey sedan that has this lip. He bought it from somewhere else though I think. He said it's pretty much the same material as our side moldings.. Would you say this is the same material? Because you said you used a heat gun to mold the material... I don't think you'd need a heat gun for the "rubber" material.

I mean think about it.. if yours is too big by 2 cm, if you get one an inch shorter.. it would fit perfectly with very little trunk space on each side. You don't want the spoiler to be to the very edge of the trunk, that's how it'll start peeling off sooner or later.

PS - Did you make sure this was the length specified by the manufacturer? Maybe they sent you the wrong size..
