Hello everyone,

i checked some threads about rattling and cracking sounds.

Seems so far it's mostly coming from the drivers door.

But i have a different Problem.

Everytime i accelerate/brake or drive into a tight corner my drivers seat
starts to sound like an old wooden chair and makes cracking noises.

I can generate the exact same sound when the car stands still and i move myself forth and back while sitting on the seat.

Now i dont think that i am a fat guy (6'0'' and 78pds) and i had no sex with my girlfriend on that seat either :)

Anyone else having this Problem ?

Thx

Hello,

i will bring it to the Car Dealer this Weekend.

I don't think it comes from the screws. It sounds more like
right out of the seat.

Basically like a worn out sofa.

By M3 i mean Mazda 3 of course :)

I have the same problem. It seems to have started with the onset of cold weather but it really annoys me and makes me feel like I'm driving a cheap car (even though I'm not). Anyway, if there's a good fix for it, let me know. Thanks!

My roommate's WRX has squeaking from the drivers side. The fact that he was a lardass aside, it turned out the seat along the rails needed to be oiled.

My buddy and me spent good hour trying to pin point where the noise is coming from.

noise is definitely coming from right side rail (where the chair rides). we've lubricated everything underneath the chair, all moving metal parts but no luck :x. well it seems like something is rubbing against another or metal bending.

would like to take the chair out to see more, but i think i will take it to the dealer at this point

okay, i was able to temporary fix the problem... if you lower your seat all the way down and just accordingly adjust your steering, it shouldn't make any more noise. my appointment with the dealer is not until next week. i would still like to get fix of course.

I noticed that the seatbelt can rattle a bit, where it fastens into, as though the tongue part has a bit of wiggle room inside the part it clips into. If you hold it still while you drive the rattle goes away.

I had a similar issue, oddly enough it was when I adjusted myself in the seat, or reached for something in my pocket such as a wallet during a fast food drive-thru. It turns out I was inadvertantly raising the headrest and hearing the clicking sound as raised. I'ts unusually sensitive and a bit annoying as I have to manually lower it every time. I doubt its the same sound as your hearing but it may be usfull to some on the board.

Did you find a permanent fix for this noise?

I think I have this same 'cracking' type sound. To me it sounds like rubbing together two pieces of styrofoam. It took me a while to trace it to the driver's seat but now I can reproduce it pretty easily by moving around in the seat once it starts. I haven't been able to reproduce it by pushing and probing with the car stopped so I'm still looking for the exact source. When I'm driving it sounds like it's coming from the right side of the driver's seat and it gets pretty loud . . .
