Can't go wrong with the MS3. Much better than the Caliber SRT-4 (which I assume you mean). Its fast, practical, and it looks great.

But I imagine you're going to be getting pretty biased answers since this is a Mazda forum.

MS3 >>>> Caliber srt-4
MS3 = Neon Srt-4

By equal I mean both are great, and since you can only get the neon used, if you want new get the ms3 if you want to save money get the neon. If all I cared about was straight line performance out of a FWD daily driver I'd probably take the neon srt-4 over ANY car.

Surprised you don't like the s2000, but either way good luck with your investment!

LOL you're asking an MS3 board to choose your car? Also consider the 09 WRX in this price range.

all depends what you want.....

ms3 is a very well balanced car: fairly quick stock, handles very well for a fwd, is not cheap looking interior or exterior wise, has decent options like nav, is ...does respond fairly well to bolt ons if you are looking to mod....

Like you pointed out you'll be getting biased answers from any car forum. Go drive both and see what you think.... yours is the opinion that matters.

Geeze relax.

Have you seen the inside of the SRT-4 man? Nuff said. MS3 ftw.

I don't see why I need to relax. I tell anyone who asks about different cars the same thing, "Drive them". It's semi-pointless to make all your decisions and comparisons prior to driving a model just because sometimes the 'seat-of-your-pants' feeling overrules and specs or options. Plus the opinions of everyone on the forum don't matter if he happens to like something else.

That said I haven't driven a caliber, but all of the dodges I've been in recently made me go "ugh". Bad interior fit/finish, uncomfortable, and the controls in non-intuitive/ergonomic locations.

in a straight line they're about equal, throw some curves in and the ms3 will blow the neon out of the water

Do you any specific question you want answered about the MS3? Also I know with Hondas you dont get any power until you get the v-tec goin at like 7,000 rpm... your power in the MS3 comes much sooner... i had an acura as my first car its not practical driving over 6000 rpms all the time...

The caliber srt-4 can be VERY fast with little bolt-ons, i.e. the stage one setup from dealer. they can walk a MS3 very easily with less money then you would put in the MS3. now with that said the new SS turbo is the same.

What you have to decide is if you want boxy look, or sleek look; what kind of interior feel you want; and the rep of the company. i dont see how dodge will make it through the recession just like ford or GM, they don't get much public criticism but they were asking for money too. i think in this economy buying an import might be smart to keep your warranty (if you care about it), and also a way to get decent parts in the future.

the best answer for this question is: Drive both and make a decision based on that, not on this forum or the next

That and they have a strong aftermarket. I chose the MS3 obviously, but I would have kicked myself if I hadn't at least test driven everything else that interested me.

Yeah, drive everything that you would even consider. One of the ones you may not even expect may just click with you. Plus it doesn't really take anything more than a little time and visiting a few dealerships (plus its fun :))
