I have a sedan, and it only needs one 194 bulb.
The hatch seems to require two, but I am not 100% sure.

I am in no way affiliated with the seller, but I highly recommend the Xenon Store (Devin), one of the sponsors. I think you have about three choices:
1) Typical LED with narrow beam
2) Typical LED with a wide beam
3) Superbright (high flux?) LED

Shoot him a PM, and I can almost guarantee that you'll receive a reply in a split second. (no, but he has been extremely quick and helpful).

I bought some el-cheapo 5-LED bulbs from ebay for my license plate lamps, and they look great. Anything brighter would be overkill, as they already cast a nice spotlight on the ground below.

Yeah, but unless you've got all the parts laying around already (or plan on making about 50 of em), you're better off just spending the 5 bucks for bulb that's ready to go. Not that there's anything wrong with going DIY, just for the sake of going DIY ;)

1 bulb is $4.95
shipping is always $5.00 no matter what.

Buy 4 bulbs
-2 for map lights
-1 for trunk
-1 for license plate
=$19.80

pretty nice price i must say considering some people want 1 bulb for this price
