I have owned a 2012 Mazda 5 for three years now and I can attest to exactly the same problems with both key fobs. To the people who keep talking about the batteries (right one? bad batch?), please pipe down. This is not the only forum page where countless people are experiencing the same identical problems and every single one has a circa 2012 Mazda. There is definitely something corrupt with these fobs, whether Mazda wants to acknowledge it or not. I've just come to terms with using the bloody key to unlock the door every time. I wish they could've at least put a keyhole on the passenger side too (all newer cars seem to be doing away with this too). What I want to ask others is, has anyone tried buying the third-party (Amazon or Walmart) key fobs for their Mazda? Did you experience the same problems with those or did it fix the problem by not using the Mazda-specific ones?
