I don't have my Mazda2 yet, but this should be fairly simple, it's just an air filter replacement (and should be done on a regular basis). You should always do this yourself, it's one of the easiest maintenance issues. Here's a picture of a Mazda2 engine:



You see the tube coming from the front of the engine bay toward the engine? That's the air intake, and the air filter should be in the box it feeds to, which looks like it has four "U"s on it. Open this up, take the old filter out, and pop the new filter in. Easy as that!

I know some 'heated wire' style Mass-Air-Flow sensors can be fouled by the oil used in the K&N reusable filters. this happened to my Bonneville SSEI.
