I just want a cheap, easy solution to the sadly crappy stock stereo system in my 2006 Mazda 3 5dr. I need the Sub, Amp, and LOC but I can get that from the installer.

I found this:

http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Magn...psm/oid/162819/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do#tabs

Obviously its crap, but will it truly make a difference?

The site says the RMS is 500, does that mean the included amp can power a 500 RMS?

Thanks for any help.

IMO, just adding a sub and amp is not going to better your system unless you call just loud thumping better

If you really want a better system, you will need to replace H/U and stock speakers.

Now if you want to keep the head unit like I did, you need to at least replace the front the stock speakers and amp them. I also replaced the rear speakers too because I got a good deal on them.

So IMO cheapest way to get better sound is to replace stock speakers and amp them.

So you think replacing the stock speakers would give me an overall better sounding system then a new sub and amp?

I would probably tend to agree, but isn't that going to be more expensive?

No replacing the stock speakers AND adding an amp will cost you which is what I would reccomend for getting into decent sound. You shouldnt ever use a factory headunit with its amp to drive anything over the factory spec.

If your on a tight budget, keep factory headunit - LOC it to a decent level RMS 4 channel amp, replace speakers.
hen if your still needing more, replace factory headunit. Get another amp, get a nice sub.
I have never liked the bass output from a factory signal no matter what kind of external amp or LOC, maybe its just what I had way back when but fading and having an empty booming sound than clean SQ bass was killing the effect.

And how much of that can you do without affecting your warranty? (very new to posting here) Just asking cuz I am thinking about putting a sub (with all necessary extras) in my 3l

Warranty will be voided when you take it in after making a mistake and leave that aftermarket part hanging or still installed....secret...shhhhh- Im no warranty expert, just what I have dealt with in the past.
Really if your worried about warranty then dont mod the car at all, it will save you the headache when a dealership service manager points out that ANYTHING added or taken out is the cause of the fault. Even a set of chrome tire valve stem caps...."it throws off the balance and cause the ball joints to warp" or whatever nonsense they can dish out.
