It is not necessary to remove the front bumper as with the CP-e CAI.

Is this true? I hope not, I just ordered it.

you should have taken off the bumper. it only takes 5 minutes and makes it 100x easier.

I wish it was a 5 minute process. You need to remove a few bolts here and there, remove the bolts along the bottom as well and then you need to disconnect the stupid ass fog light wires from the front bumper and the ambient temperature sender wire. argh! sooooooo frustrating trying to get those loose, I took mine off and just cut the wire tie peices because there was no way i could get them unclipped with my big fingers.
drove me nuts, almost kept me from getting it off, but persistence paid off.

to people who think the front bumper is so easy to remove, obviously you havent tried yet.
the fog wires are a HUGE PITA due to them being tied into the bumper and the ambient temp wire is a HUGE PITA since its attached to the bumper as well.
get under there and then come back and say how easy it was to remove those clips and get it all off the bumper prior to removal.

I am so excited to get mine in - I must be one of the few that has to wait till Feb 28 :( (damn backwater south Louisiana).

I cant wait to see a dyno of this thing. I hope someone has a dyno chart before and after so we can get a good comparison. I would love to do it, but the closest place I trust to dyno my car is 4 hours away.

I bet a normal tech would take a little over an hour for the first one, if he took his time to read everything and was carefull

THen ones after the first install would probably be like 30-40min each, which dealers have a min of 1 hour just like all other shops
not so sure doing it in an hour is feaseable, especially if said tech isnt allowed to snap plastic peices to speed up the process.
If I had my car on a lift, and knew exactly what to do first and what exactly needed to be done, I could do it in an hour if I was working on all 4 cylinders :p
Of course, now that I installed mine, to install another one will be much easier and faster, but dont see breaking under an hour unless you are working so fast it could be considered dangerous.

35 mins? hmm id guess 10 mins at best to get the front bumper off, then back on (if you have a lift), and you did everything else in 25? you should change careers.

One more thing that I wanted to add. That blue thingy, and those who installed it themselves know what I'm talking about. How much would it have cost Mazda to include a just in case blue thingy in the box with the CAI? $0.05? I almost broke it twice as it is so fragile. I would had been pissed at myself if I did.
I had that same exact thought, completely riduclous it didnt come with it, but thats prolly due to it being a mazda part and an AEM instake, the logistics may have been too involved for them to bother.
